After hours, days, weeks and months of writing, filming, editing and not to mention adding visual effects, Sphere is finally finished! I submitted the first cut in to Filmbites for the annual Premiere Night on March 18. On the same day, it will be released online so make sure to check here or at josiahsaxby.com to watch it. I have given my all into this film, and I really hope you all like it. I will continue to post my film projects on this site, so stay tuned!
The River – Season One, Episode 2: “Marbeley (Part Two)
The first half of the two hour premiere was awful! Is this half better?
As you can see by the star rating, this half is indeed better than the first. Although, some of the first half’s problems still lingered thoughout the episode. The episode is fun, but still not better than any other horror series’ episodes.
The River – Season One, Episode 1: “Magus (Part One)”
The latest horror TV series has just premiered! But is it better than other horror series?
Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity) and Steven Speilberg (Jurrassic Park, Jaws) team together to create a found footage horror series about a crew on a research boat that are on a quest to find an explorer who mysteriously disappeared. Hearing that is came from the help of Steven Speilberg really baffles me.
Chronicle
Competition for this summer’s superhero blockbusters
The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man - they are all the rage of this year at the movies. What’s a comic book geek to do until May? Simple – watch Chronicle, a larger than life found footage flick that transcends all superhero norms.
Hugo
A movie for true movie veterans
Martin Scorsese is famous for his graphic portrayals of violence in movies, so the question many would ask is – why head into family friendly territory? His experiment has paid off with tremendous results with a movie which for a much needed change, doesn’t treat children like they’re stupid and gives loving respect to early cinema.
Underworld: Awakening
Selene Is Back! But does she have enough ammo to shoot her way through this adventure?
WARNING: This review may contain spoilers!
Kate Beckinsale returns as Selene for the fourth film in the action packed franchise. Awakening follows Selene as she battles the humans as they try to exterminate the vampires and the lycans. Not only does she have to battle them, she also must save her hybrid daughter from the lycans as well.
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
Sherlock freaking Holmes is back
![]()
SPOILER WARNING
As a fan of the Conan Doyle novels & short stories (having read most of them at least twice), I enjoyed the originality of the first film’s plot, with a new villain as a bonus. I was anxious and eager to see how Ritchie and co. would deal with a ‘real life’ Holmes villain, and of course no Sherlock Holmes TV or film series is complete without at least one encounter with Professor James Moriarty. I was worried that they might choose the well-trodden and overdone path of a standard ‘Final Problem’ story, which would predictably end with the fall from the Reichenbach Falls. However, the creators have avoided that and created their own basic storyline which they could fill with fast-paced action and one or two new characters.

Josiah’s Top and Bottom 5 Movies of 2011
This year at the movies, I was generally impressed by most of the movies I watched – and although this year’s best movies haven’t been quite up to scratch with the best of previous years, it has been a more consistent year all round. There weren’t any movies that were quite the apple in my eye the same way Inception was, neither were there any movies that ticked every box in the awful category like The Last Airbender. This is my list of favorite and least favorite movies of 2011.
